World Food Prize: 2011 Laureates: John Agyekum Kufuor and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva

Documentary record
According to the UN, Lula was one of the two winners of the 2011 World Food Prize, announced in Washington.[1]
The foundation's brochure for the announcement of the 2011 laureates indicates the announcement ceremony on June 21, at the U.S. Department of State.[2]
The foundation states that Kufuor and Lula were chosen to jointly receive the 2011 World Food Prize for their personal commitment and leadership, as presidents, in creating and carrying out government policies to alleviate hunger and poverty in their countries.[3]
Among Lula's achievements listed by the foundation is having prioritized policies to guarantee three meals a day for all Brazilians, reaching, according to the foundation, MDG 1 of halving the proportion of people who are hungry and in poverty.[4]
In the announcement brochure, the foundation stated that the two laureates would be honored at the 2011 award ceremony, at the Iowa State Capitol, on October 13.[5]
